Triple S

If you like Italian food, Skinny Pizza is a good restaurant for you to try. The thin-crust pizzas are delicious!

My friends and I ordered the squidink pizza, aglio olio with clams and meatball pizza.

There are many Skinny Pizza outlets: Raffles City, Wheelock House, Great World City, Plaza Singapura and 100AM.

When you eat at Skinny Pizza, it costs about $25 (2000yen) per dish.

The staff at Skinny Pizza are friendly and prompt.

My friends and I also tried the food at Earle Swensen's.

We ordered the chicken cutlet spaghetti and chicken baked rice. Meals come with free-flow salad.

There is Earle Swensen's in Vivocity. When you eat at Earle Swensen's, it costs about $20 (1500yen) per dish.

The meat dishes look appetizing. However, the staff at Earle Swensen's were not friendly when we were there.

If you visit Singapore, you must try soyabean milk.

Many Singaporeans like soyabean milk but I don't particularly like it.

You can drink it at hawker centres. You can order a "black and white". This is soyabean milk with chin chow jelly.

Soyabean milk is served with ice or warm. Soyabean milk is cheap. One cup of soyabean milk costs only about $0.80 (60yen).

Durians

The durian is known as the "king of fruits".

The durian has a green thorny husk and yellow seeds. We can eat the seeds.

The Durian's Seeds

You can buy durians at supermarkets and roadside stalls. Some durians are as cheap as $0.50 (40yen) per durian but some are about $20 (1500yen) per durian.

Many Singaporeans like durians but I don't like it. The first taste is okay but it leaves a bad lingering taste. Durians have a strong odour. Durians can be made into ice-cream and cakes.

Singapore River Cruise

The Singapore River cruise is located between Boat Quay and Clark Quay.

Boat Quay

Clarke Quay

The bumboat (old Chinese boat) ride is 40 minutes but it is a bit  too long for my liking. It costs $13.80 (1000yen) per person.

You can see Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion and the Singapore Flyer.

Singapore Flyer

There is no air-conditioning. Therefore, I think it is better to take the ride in the late evening because it is windy and the night  scenery is more beautiful.

Taking the MRT in Singapore

There are five MRT lines in Singapore -- East-West Line, North-South Line, North-East Line, Circle Line and LRT. MRT is a convenient and affordable mode of transportation.

City Hall MRT Station

You can use an ezlink card or buy a ticket. You can buy a ticket from the ticketing machines at the MRT station. The lowest fare for a standard ticket is $1.10 (90yen). However, it is only $0.73 (55yen) for an adult, $0.36 (30yen) for a child and $0.54 (40yen) for a senior citizen. The highest fare for a standard ticket is $2.40 (190yen). It is about $2 (150yen) cheaper than the highest subway fare in Kyoto.

Singapore is a small island. The network is less complicated than the ones in Japan. There is a schedule for the subway in Japan but there is no fixed timing for MRT.

The MRT cabins are clean and more spacious than the ones in Japan.

With My Friends on the MRT

You must not eat, drink or smoke on the MRT by law. You cannot bring durians onto the MRT. Some people hate the durian smell.

Taking the Bus in Singapore

You can take the bus to many places in Singapore. There are many bus stops in Singapore. But the bus is not a 24-hr service and ends at about midnight.

Bus Stop at Tiong Bahru

You can pay by cash or use an ezlink card (which offers you a fare discount).

ezlink Card

It is cheap to take the bus in Singapore compared to Japan. The lowest fare in Singapore is $0.73 (60yen), but in Japan, it is $3 (220yen). Therefore, it is often crowded on the bus.

The buses in Singapore are bigger than the ones in Japan.
The air-conditioning in the bus in Singapore is as good as the one in Japan.

There are fantastic buses in Singapore such as articulated buses and double decker buses. Some buses are wheelchair-friendly buses.

Kaya Toast

Kaya toast (toasted bread with kaya jam and butter) is a popular and delicious local food.

Kaya toast is usually eaten at breakfast or at tea time.

You can find kaya toast at hawker centres and food courts.

The most famous kaya toast shop in Singapore is "Yakun".

Kaya toast is cheap. Two pieces of kaya toast cost about S$1 (75yen).

Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport

It is easy to get to anywhere from Changi Airport.

You can take the taxi, MRT or bus to your hotel.

From Changi Airport to the city, it might cost about $25 by taxi.

It is much cheaper by MRT or bus. It costs only a few dollars.
